Day to Night exploring of Our Ziggurat Temples.

Like you know Ziggurats are our temples,
and we believed that Powerful god lived in the Sky!
We built huge structures, called ziggurats, with steps climbing up to the top.
From the top of the Ziggurat, you could see the protective wall built about the entire town, and over the wall to the farmlands beyond our beautiful city!
Formal religious ceremonies were held at the very top.
But all year long, people left offerings of food and wine on the steps of the ziggurats. One of the jobs of the priests was to enjoy these offerings, because as everyone knew, the gods could not eat for themselves.
A Ziggurat was built in the center of each town. It was the center of daily life. Except for festivals, which, for the most part, were gloomy things, the Ziggurat courtyard was filled with joyous and busy life. You might see an artist painting, a boy racing by on his way to school, someone milking a cow or making a basket.

One of the special things were in the city was the government, so when they went into battle they would have a”big man” which is the king,he would lead them to successes and when they won, the king’s reward would be the piece of land. The King had many things to take care of like the farmers, soldiers and servants for sorts of different reasons and so the king didn't have that much power to control things the counselor group would be also their to get things approved,ALSO The king had some rules he should follow as well as his people.

In Akkad our Farmlands are very important to us,and you are probably wondering Why would anyone wish to build a civilization in the middle of the desert in the northen part? The answer: Because it was a wonderful place to live!
Many thousands of years ago,we early settlers began to build cities along the banks of the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers. Natural wildlife and vegetation kept us fed while we began to build our new world.
They wove sturdy baskets from the weeds that grew along the riverbanks and made pottery from the wet clay.
It did not rain much, but we early settlers soon learned that if you irrigated the land, crops grew quickly. We built canals to bring water to the land from the rivers.

Meats was often eaten at festival and after religious ceremonies. ''Large numbers of animals were slaughtered, ostensibly in honor of a deity,'the priests would then serve the deity in the form of a statue, draw a curtain, and allow it to eat its fill. Then the curtain would be opened and the priests would eat what was left. And, since statues don't eat much in Mesopotamia, the priests and their favored retainers must have eaten pretty well.''
